Description
Greenwich Pantry prides themselves on celebrating global food, from the richness of French cuisine, to the wonderful colours of Italian cookery, or the fresh Mediterranean ingredients the Spaniards love so much. They are also ardent fans of healthy eating and food preparation, including the art of sushi making.
An interesting piece of information about sushi is that it doesn’t actually mean “raw fish” – much to some people’s astonishment. The word refers to a dish of vinegared rice served with various fillings and toppings, which may include raw fish. Sushi was originally invented as a means of preservation, when fermented rice was used to store fish for anything up to a year.
During this workshop, many ingredients will be used, not simply raw fish – so vegetarians are well-looked after. You’ll discover an array of sushi making techniques, including how to roll the sushi and what knives to use to prepare the ingredients.
Whilst sipping on soft drinks and a complimentary glass of wine, you’ll have the opportunity to create your own selection of sushi including sashimi, nigiri, california rolls, temaki and hosomaki to take home. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi eater or new to the idea, this class is sure to leave you feeling confident about how to host the perfect Japanese dinner party!
