It all started in 2011 as a whisky tasting events company, and has grown over the years to host numerous festivals and tasting events. In early 2018, Grain & Glass finally opened their own space in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.
As the name might suggest, the Club is the new, permanent home for the formerly nomadic society, who previously frequented other venues in the city for their regular tastings and events. However, the bar is not exclusive to Club members, and is open to anyone and everyone who wishes to visit.
The main focus of the bar is, of course, whisky. Whisky has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, partly thanks to the revival of the Old Fashioned, a classic cocktail brought back to the limelight by the TV series Mad Men. This has meant that whisky has been thrown to the forefront once again – which is great news for whisky lovers, and the Whisky Club itself.
During A World of Whisky Tasting, you can expect to taste a variety of whiskies and learn about where they each come from. You’ll also discover the scents and subtle notes of flavour in each of the six whiskies you taste. Before long, you’ll feel like a whisky connoisseur and, no doubt, you’ll come away knowing you've found ‘The One’!
Grain & Glass, previously known as The Whisky Club, was established in 2011 to foster a community for whisky enthusiasts. Initially, it operated as a mobile tasting events company before opening its first venue in 2018. The establishment aims to make whisky accessible and to reshape perceptions through its diverse bar selection, knowledgeable staff, and engaging tasting events.
Founder Amy Seton, renowned in the whisky industry, has significantly contributed to Birmingham's whisky scene. The team includes experts like Renata and guest specialists Steve and Matt, each bringing unique expertise and passion to the venue
