Step away from the bustle of Piccadilly Circus and into a London most people walk straight past. For two hours, the West End becomes your stage on a private walking tour through 150 years of magical history, led by a professional magician and senior member of The Magic Circle, the world’s premier magic society.

Your guide will be James Pritchard or Wayne Trice. James is a finalist in The Magic Circle’s Close-Up Magician of the Year, has entertained royalty and celebrities, and performed on BBC Two’s The Restaurant with Raymond Blanc. Wayne brings more than three decades of magic, was once Theatre Manager of The Magic Circle’s own theatre, and is the resident compère of West End Magic at the Leicester Square Theatre.

Wander past the Hippodrome, Leicester Square and Haymarket as the golden age of magic comes back to life: the stages where Houdini performed his death-defying escapes, the fierce rivalries between showmen who would stop at nothing to outdo one another, and the magicians who turned their skills to scientific discovery and to exposing fraudulent mediums. Harry Potter fans will hear about the places thought to have inspired the wizarding world.

This is no history lecture. Stories are brought to life with sleight of hand along the way, and for the finale you settle in for a private 30-minute close-up magic show, performed just for you, close enough to touch. With your guide all to yourselves, there is time to ask questions, linger where you like and simply enjoy the wonder.
