Description

The ideal gift for cricket lovers, guests can hone their bowling or batting skills at the 'Home of Cricket', Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre. Using cutting-edge, leading cricket coaching technology, Lord's is the only place in the world where guests can develop their skills with Hawk-Eye as a specialised bowling training tool.

Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre is one of world sport's most iconic venues, celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2014. The first match played at Lord’s was in 1787, when businessman Thomas Lord staged a game between Middlesex and Essex at a newly built ground near Baker Street. Lord, a winemaker, oversaw the stadium and cricket's development in the country, while cleverly profiting from his wine shop, situated opportunistically at the ground's entrance. The current ground opened in 1814 and, since then, has gone on to host over 100 test matches.

There is no better destination for a budding cricketer, or a dab hand at the sport, to develop their batting or bowling skills. The MCC Cricket Academy, situated within the ground, is at the forefront of cricket technology, with Hawk-Eye providing cutting-edge analysis.

The MCC Cricket Academy has a ‘breathable’ design, making it ideal to allow sunlight but not hard shadows – due to special sails in the roof. This also allows natural air to flow throughout the building, which is ideal for training all year round.

The session will be taken with an expert MCC Cricket Academy coach. A choice is available of either a Bowling Analysis or Batting Analysis session, both of which will take place over the course of an hour.

The Bowling Analysis session uses the Hawk-Eye software, which tracks balls bowled in the nets and pinpoints the speed, line and length of each delivery bowled; mapping it onto a virtual world of Lord’s Indoor Cricket Centre. The visual nature of the feedback is the strength of the system, making it very easy to understand. The lesson will generally be split between the nets and the Performance Analysis Suite, where feedback is provided.
