Nestled in the spectacular countryside of the South Downs, Hambledon Estate is home to the oldest commercial winery in the UK. But age has not stopped progress, and in 2013, the Duchess of Cornwall cut the ribbon on a new £2.5m all gravity-fed state-of-the-art winery. When you enjoy a Hambledon Vineyard winery tour you’ll get to experience wine that’s made from age-old vines and cutting-edge technology combined.

On your tour, you’ll discover how wine visionary, Iain Kellet revolutionised the winery and why Hambledon now produces a mix of 50% sparkling wine and 50% traditional wines. Their collaboration with Pol Roger has made them a tour de force in the local sparkling wine industry and you can taste why!

After your in-depth tour led by winery experts, you can sample the award-winning Hambledon Classic Cuvee Rose amongst the splendour of the vines. You’ll then be treated to a pop-up dinner featuring a picnic basket crammed full of hand-made treats. Soaking up the view of this superb winery is an unforgettable experience, especially as the sun dips low in the sky.

Hambledon Vineyard, established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, is England's oldest commercial vineyard. Situated in the historic village of Hambledon, the vineyard is renowned for its pioneering role in English winemaking. The estate focuses on producing high-quality English sparkling wines, leveraging its unique terroir. Hambledon has received numerous accolades for its wines and is also a proud sponsor of the Southern Vipers women's cricket team. The vineyard continues to innovate, recently expanding its visitor facilities to enhance the wine tasting and tourism experience.

Please note: from 2nd October to 30th November 2024, Hambledon Vineyard will be running a tailored harvest tour experience due to limited access to the winery and cellars.

Due to the harvest taking place, the tours have been reshaped to allow visitors to experience Hambledon Vineyard from the comfort of the Cellar Door, or outside in the Courtyard Kitchen Garden (weather permitting). For a limited time only, a relaxed, seated wine experience will be offered, where the team of expert guides will share the story of Hambledon’s unique history, explain how the wine is crafted from grape to glass, and discuss the vision for Hambledon’s future.

This wine experience will be accompanied by a tasting of three of Hambledon’s Sparkling Wines, poured in approximately 90ml samples, with the option to upgrade and include the whole range at the guest's leisure. For those driving or unable to drink, spittoons will be available.
