Public Tour & Sparkling Wine Tasting at Hambledon Wineries

Discover England’s oldest commercial vineyard, a piece of British history that is at the core of one of England’s leading sparkling wine producers.

Walk through the historical vineyards, visit the state-of-the-art gravity fed winery and explore Hambledon’s underground cellars cut directly into the perfect white chalk, all led by our friendly team of wine experts.

Finish the tour by tasting the final product, a range of the best sparkling wines in England.

Please note: Access to the winery, cellars and vineyard is dependent on wine making procedures, vineyard and cellar work.

NOTE: During the harvest period (for the month of October) the tours have been reshaped to allow you to experience Hambledon Wine Estate from the comfort of our Tasting Room. For a limited time only, the vineyard offering a relaxed, seated wine experience, where the team of expert guides will tell the story of Hambledon’s unique history, guide you through how is craft the wine from grape to glass and the vision for Hambledon’s future. Depending on what is happening the winery that day, you may be able to taste some grape juice fresh off the press, or see how the winemakers take sugar readings.

This harvest wine experience will be accompanied by a tasting of 4 of our Sparkling Wines poured in around 75ml samples that reflect the character of the house style and our exceptional terroir. For those driving or unable to drink, spittoons are available

More About Hambledon Vineyard

Hambledon Vineyard, established in 1952 by Major-General Sir Guy Salisbury-Jones, is England's oldest commercial vineyard. Situated in the historic village of Hambledon, the vineyard is renowned for its pioneering role in English winemaking. The estate focuses on producing high-quality English sparkling wines, leveraging its unique terroir. Hambledon has received numerous accolades for its wines and is also a proud sponsor of the Southern Vipers women's cricket team. The vineyard continues to innovate, recently expanding its visitor facilities to enhance the wine tasting and tourism experience.

Additional Information

Please come wearing sensible footwear, as we're a working vineyard there may be sections of the tour with uneven, slippery or muddy surfaces. The tour involves a fair bit of walking and standing, for e.g. up to 30 minutes. If you find standing for long periods of time tricky, you may like to bring a shooting stick. Climbing 2 metal spiral staircases is required in the winery.

The duration of the experience is 1.5 to 2 hours
