Built in 1871, Plaza e de Russie is the oldest hotel in Viareggio, its name a reference to the Russian aristocracy for whom this was once a favourite resort. Elegant and stylishly vintage, this 19th-century guesthouse glows with contemporary design and cosmopolitan charm.
The ground floor welcomes unparalleled views of the turquoise Tuscan waters, with the beachfront only moments away. Here, you can soak up the sun at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Ristorante Lunasia – meaning ‘serenity’ in the Etruscan language. True to its name, this space offers a tranquil, gourmet dining experience led by the award-wining Head Chef, Luca Landi.
Flair and creativity, combined with his mastery of flavours are what earned Landi his Stella Michelin. His menu features a fondness of fresh Mediterranean fish and seafood, combined elegantly with local, seasonal ingredients. Imaginative, rich and wildly rewarding, his dishes are sure to delight and intrigue from the very first mouthful.
Of course, no trip to Tuscany is complete without a visit to a local vineyard. Spend the day exploring Lucca Vineyard, meeting Italian sommeliers and tasting exceptional wines produced and bottled on the wine farm. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase your favourite wines, should you wish.
