The Handmade atelier was born in 2010, out of the desire to help unemployed artisans become sustainable business owners and job creators. The business model was replicated in many family owned workshops along different areas in Spain, where the founders were born and raised. Guests will meet virtually at their artisanal workshop in Barcelona - a unique setting surrounded by leather, threads and finished espadrilles. First, you will be introduced to the story of these beautiful shoes and the materials needed for their construction. You will learn about their old tradition, and how this shoe passed from being built by and for humble people, to being a worldwide trend setter. Customise your own creation, choosing the colour, ribbons, threads, and the type of stitching you like. Once satisfied, a master artisan will stitch up your creation, following your instructions. The finished product will be shipped to your home, ensuring you have beautiful shoes and memories to hang on to.
