Dive For Your Own Diamond In South Africa

Purchasing a diamond is a momentous occasion and this unique experience is perfect for a proposal or romantic gesture. Venture on a once in a lifetime experience - diamond diving off the west coast of South Africa, home to some of the world’s most prestigious gems. An incredible opportunity to follow the timeline of the diamond from its raw natural form to a polished, sparkling stone. Benguela Diamonds is the only company in the world to control the entire journey of an ocean diamond, from mining to polishing to setting.

The VIP experience begins by boarding a private plane in Cape Town. Enjoy a scenic one and a half hour flight as you head north to Port Nolloth, in a light aircraft. A chauffeur will be waiting to transport guests to a luxurious contemporary villa overlooking the ocean for a delicious breakfast while being briefed on the day’s proceedings. Guests have the opportunity to either dive (a level 1 PADI qualification is required) with the dive master, or watch from the deck as the gemstones are extracted from the sea floor. This is a unique opportunity to submerge oneself in the Atlantic Ocean and discover the underwater gem mine, home not only to diamonds, but also garnets, olivines and other minerals.

Return to land for a gourmet lunch prepared by.a private chef and savour local seafood and delicious South African wines on the terrace of the villa, while soaking in the spectacular ocean views. After lunch, guests will have the opportunity to grade the ‘harvest’ alongside diamond experts where you can select and purchase your rough diamond before your onward flight back to Cape Town. Should guests wish, the founder of Benguela Diamonds has a jewellery shop in Stellenbosh, where guests can get the extracted stones polished into sparkling gems, or set into a unique piece of jewellery.
