Widely regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era, Charles Dickens’ literary genius has stood the test of time. Enjoying a wider popularity during his lifetime than had any previous author, the English-writer and social critic was praised by fellow writers, from Leo Tolstoy to George Orwell. It is at his home of 48 Doughty Street, now an honorary museum, that this iconic storyteller first achieved international fame.
During your exploration of the Dickens family home, you’ll uncover the private world behind the author’s public image. The museum holds the world's most important Dickens collection with over 100 000 items including manuscripts, rare editions, personal items and paintings. Each room is decorated with furnishings of Victorian era, transporting you to another time - a time of Dickens’ London.
At the centre of the house is Dickens’ study, housing the desk at which he hand wrote some of his most iconic works - Oliver Twist, Pickwick Papers and Nicholas Nickleby. You can all but hear his quill pen scratching on parchment, breathing life into his characters against the flickering flame of candle.
Tuttons in Covent Garden is a true institution that’s been serving up the best of British seasonal produce to its diners for decades. The menu features a mix of British favourites and classics with a twist, perfectly showcasing the quality and variety of food that’s grown locally. Famed for its wonderful atmosphere and great location, Tuttons has stood the test of time for good reason.The ideal day out for that history buff in your family.

Tuttons: Tuesday - Saturday, 12pm to 5pm
Service charge 12.5% is not included at Tuttons; this is left to the guest’s discretion on the day.
This experience is not available on bank holidays and other special occasion days such as Valentine’s Day, Mothers day, Good Friday, New Years Eve .
Only the Festive Menu is available throughout the festive season from 20th November to 31st December.
