A global landmark which requires very little introduction, discover the grandeur of Angkor Wat, capturing memories to last a lifetime on this Angkor Wat photography tour.
The masterpiece of Angkor Wat is Cambodia’s most beloved and best preserved temple. The 500-acre site is one of the largest religious monuments in the world and represents the architectural pinnacle of the Khmer Empire. Originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, it has remained a place of worship since its founding in the 12th century.
Thought to be a miniature replica of the universe, its composition of towers, moats and concentric walls reveals an architectural sophistication, and the bas-reliefs with their plump figures and triumphal battle scenes reflect a robust, healthy and wealthy period of Cambodian history. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
For some people visiting Siem Reap and the Angkor Wat temples, photography is perhaps the best way to bring back home great memories. To ensure you capture the most stunning images of this world treasure we will organise three days of unique photography tours, showcasing the best the region has to offer. Leaving from your well located hotel base in Siem Reap, your private photography tours, led by a locally based professional photographer, can be undertaken on three days of your choosing over the course of this seven-night break.
The rest of the break can be spent exploring the region at your own pace, immersing yourself in the rich Cambodian culture at your doorstep. This tour caters for photographers of any skill level, from beginners to seasoned veterans; acting as an invaluable guide, and ensuring you capture the best of this UNESCO World Heritage site. The following list gives an overview of the three photography tours and what you can expect to do on each:
Angkor Wat Photography Tour – starting in Siem Reap, a day tour guiding you through this world famous landmark. The tour starts in the morning at 5am, giving you a great chance of capturing the sunrise behind the spectacular silhouette of the temple. Before the return to your hotel at 5pm, you will have seen eight places and temples of this unique town, among them the highly picturesque Ta Prohm and Bayon.
Your expert guide on this Angkor Wat photography tour will tell you everything you need to know about about your camera in order to take the best pictures possible of this stunning location. You will learn how to handle the manual settings of your camera, learning the true meaning aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. In addition, you will learn about metering modes, auto-focus modes and white balance. Most importantly this tour will ensure you return home with a enviable photography album of your time in Angkor Wat.
Phnom Kulen Photography Tour - Phnom Kulen is one of the most important religious sites in Cambodia and is located in the Siem Reap province. Phnom Kulen is considered the birth place of the ancient Khmer empire, and due to the regions historical importance, Phnom Kulen offers a number of great photography sites.
Your Phnom Kulen Photography Tour brings you to a large number of historical sites which very few tourists actually tend to frequent. Aside from the cultural significance of the area, the main attraction are the famous waterfalls it houses. The larger waterfall is around 20 meters high and 15 meters wide. Whilst the larger waterfall often tends to be used by locals for a swim, there are a number of smaller waterfalls where you unlikely to find a single person.
Tonle Sap Lake Photography Tour – The Tonle Sap Photography Tour has two major subjects. Starting at around 10am and the first port of call is the Old Market, to capture this vibrant market and learn about low-light photography, ensuring you capture only the most picturesque shots. After capturing the market, you will be driven in a 4x4 to Lake Tonle Sap where you will board a private boat to the village of Kampong Phluk, a village on stilts.
The houses in Kampong Phluk are built on stilts that are up to 10 meters high, and as the sun sets over them, you will have the opportunity to take some unparalleled photographs of the sun's incredibly vibrant red and orange descent from the sky.
