“Something to stimulate the senses” The Guardian

Why we love it

Inspiring the world to enjoy tea at its best, JING Tea’s founder, Edward Eisler, has devoted his life to sourcing the world’s finest authentic tea leaves. The tea of choice at some of the finest hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants around the world - including Jumeirah hotels, Mandarin Oriental, and Joel Robuchon - JING Tea is inspired by Asia’s great tea cultures and Chinese tea ceremonies, where drinking tea is “...not just a drink; – it’s an experience”. Discover the history of tea, taste authentic varieties and learn how to get the best from each with the experts at JING tea on this guided tasting.

Description

Edward Eisler is considered a pioneer in the tea world, sourcing rare and precious teas, sharing them with the world, and transforming traditional approaches to tea-making to suit a modern audience.

The JING Tea founder became enamoured by the charm of tea after a trip to a teahouse in Prague, aged 15. Travelling to China after school, Edward discovered the ancient tea culture and was fascinated by “the quality of the tea production, the dedication to terroir and the approach to tea-drinking that strove to get the best out of the amazing tea leaves”.

After completing a degree in Chinese medicine and many more trips to Asia, Edward turned his interest in eastern culture and love for tea into one of the world’s most renowned fine tea suppliers. Forging relationships with discerning and celebrated chefs including Heston Blumenthal, Joel Robuchon and Pierre Gagnaire, today JING is the tea brand of choice for the world’s finest restaurant and hotels, such as Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Jumeirah and Ritz-Carlton.

Workshops are held at Rye London in Dalston. The industrial-chic warehouse space is located on the top floor of an old print factory, with high ceilings, white exposed brick walls and airy skylights. Enjoy a guided tea tasting with the experts, exploring the major types of tea, identifying their qualities, and their fascinating history. Following an introduction to tea, sample six JING-sourced teas; picked and expertly produced by masters using skills handed down through generations. These 'true to origins' teas are the best man and nature can produce and guests will be able to take home a selection pack of three tasters to continue the JING Tea experience at home, along with a small glass timer and exclusive offers.
