Description
Hold back on the breakfast as this foodie tour will take you on a journey of gastronomic glory! Scottish foodie, author and TV presenter, Nell Nelson is an internationally travelled former journalist, who now uses her language of the world to lead an entertaining, exciting and thought-provoking walking expedition through the cobbled streets of Edinburgh.
Explorers will be introduced to five of the city's local flavour haunts, serving the best in Scottish cuisine, so you can sip, sample and savour delectable discoveries in the historic village of Stockbridge. Not only will you get to eat your way through the area, you’ll also get to meet, and chat to, local producers who will give you an inside look at how local produce is made and distributed.
You’ll start your day with a trip to the bakery where you’ll sample a freshly baked scone, right out of the oven, alongside a locally roasted cup of coffee or tea. Over the road, is the butchery where you’ll meet the man who smokes his own game. At the fishmonger, you’ll have the opportunity to try salmon that has been smoked and prepared on the premises.
For those with a sweet tooth, you’ll be mesmerised by the next stop – a trip to a local chocolatier, where you can sample unique flavoured chocolates from lavender to Isle of Skye sea salt. A welcome rest will ensue with the opportunity to enjoy a specially curated Scottish cheese selection before finishing off with a dram of single malt in a former Georgian coach house.
