  • Each Spirited Sermon is based on a theme. Past themes include: Wild & Irish - Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin, The Oldest of Rums - Mount Gay, and Rediscover Natural - Belvedere Vodka
  • Taste three variations on the headline spirit at your chosen Spirited Sermon
  • Savour three experimental cocktails each, made using the headline spirit

Description

Hidden away in the basement of an unassuming shop on Goodge Street, Reverend J.W. Simpson is an artfully distressed speakeasy cocktail bar named after a titular clergyman who resided in the building in the 1980s. With stained glass windows, original wallpaper and kitchen tiles and well-worn parquet, the intimate and cosy basement bar has a peculiar charm and makes a feature of its unique history.

Held in the privacy of the back room, Reverend J.W. Simpson’s Spirited Sermons are a set of evening public masterclasses centred on a selection of under-appreciated and distinctly uncool drinks.

During the tasting, your extremely knowledgeable host will impart fascinating facts and amusing anecdotes about the history and production of the weeks’ spirit, with entertaining deconstructions of the flavours behind the spirit, whether it be biting into a juniper berry or sampling pure rosemary essence.

Then, the experienced cocktail bartenders demonstrate how to use the flavours to create beautiful, delicate and delicious concoctions. To finish, guests will then have the opportunity to use their newly learnt skills to shake and stir their own cocktail behind the bar.
