Description

Home to a national collection, Tate Britain is the world centre for the study and display of British art from 1500 to present day. Highlights include a Turner collection of more than 300 paintings and thousands of watercolours, with significant space also dedicated to two artists of the Romantic age, Constable and William Blake.

The national tradition of portraiture is embodied in a fine collection of Elizabethan works, as well as those by Gainsborough, Reynolds and Hogarth, known as the father of English painting. The Pre-Raphaelites feature prominently, leading the way to 20th-century galleries that include work by Francis Bacon, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, and Young British Artists such as Emin and Hirst. Enjoy a privately-guided tour of either the collection highlights or a special exhibition of your choice.

After a morning of culture, make a short journey to the exclusive neighbourhood of Mayfair for lunch at Alyn Williams’ Michelin-starred restaurant in the five-star Westbury Hotel; an opulent dining room branded by The Guardian’s John Lancaster as "a temple of gastronomy".

Prior to opening his eponymous restaurant, Williams worked with some of the biggest names in the business, including Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, for whom he was head chef at his two Michelin star establishment. 2012 saw his innovative style of Modern European cooking win the coveted ‘National Chef of the Year’ title, along with his first Michelin Star. The restaurant has since been awarded four AA rosettes and retained its prestigious star.

Alyn's cooking reflects a London influence on traditional European cuisine and on this exclusive-to-Truly bespoke lunch menu, guests will savour a surprise trio of courses which Alyn and his team of chefs will create on the day.
