Why we love it

Planes need lift, thrust, force and drag in order to lift off and fly, whereas a helicopter uses a rotor, which is like a large propeller, to generate vertical thrust to get off the ground. The big difference between planes and helicopters is how they create lift, which is what makes learning to fly a helicopter so interesting, especially in a Guimbal Cabri G2 – designed specifically for training.

What's Included?

  • Become a pilot for the day with a private 40-minute flight in a Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopter for one person
  • Learn how to dual-control the helicopter and what it means to be a co-pilot, as well as the principles of flight and how a helicopter takes off and lands
  • Take the controls and fly the helicopter yourself over Hertfordshire and London
  • Receive a post-flight debrief followed by the chance to purchase any photos or personalised in-flight video footage from your flight
  • Log your 40-minutes flying time in your log book with your Instructor if you are training, or plan to train, towards your PPL(H)

Description

The Guimbal Cabri G2 is a next generation two-seater training helicopter, boasting huge advances in technology and safety. Its three-bladed articulated head and the Fenestron tail rotor offer improved safety, manoeuvrability and stability, making it that much more appealing to fly a light helicopter.

Starting you off on your pilot journey, you’ll receive a comprehensive briefing, including safety checks, ground and airborne emergency drills. Operation of the helicopter happens through dual controls which you will be shown how to manoeuvre and operate, as this is something you will get to do during your 40-minute flying lesson.

Before taking flight, you’ll have a photo opportunity in the helicopter, with you in the pilot seat. You’ll then meet your instructor and prepare for your flight. Expect a vertical take-off, panoramic views of the city and the opportunity to fly the helicopter yourself. This London Olympic Skyline lesson is designed to give you a taste of what it feels like to fly in a helicopter, whilst getting up close and personal with some of London’s most iconic landmarks. Hover over the Olympic Stadium, ArcelorMittal Orbit and the Shard as part of your one-to-one lesson.

Once back on the ground, you’ll receive a certificate of achievement and post-flight debrief followed by the chance to purchase photos and personalised in-flight video footage from your flight. You’ll also have the opportunity to log your 40-minutes flying time in your log book with your instructor if you are training, or plan to train, towards your PPL(H).
