Description

Opening its doors for the first time in 1837, Brown’s Hotel pairs tradition with class. Founded by Lord Byron’s butler, the hotel is most famously known as the place where Alexander Graham Bell made the first ever telephone call and where Rudyard Kipling completed The Jungle Book.

Enjoying a lavish facelift in 2005, the hotel was bought by Rocco Forte and redecorated by his sister Olga Polizzi. Retaining its original mahogany panelling, Polizzi added a notable art collection, a spa and modern furnishings to the restaurant and bar. 1960’s photographer and friend to the family, Sir Terence Donovan, was the inspiration behind the name and design of the elegant Donovan’s Bar.

Black and white photographs adorn the walls, and the smooth sounds of jazz sail through the air, creating an easy and stylish ambience. Boasting a wide selection of sophisticated spirits, The Donovan Bar offers an exclusive showcase of Cognacs from all over the world, educating your palate one sip at a time.
