Description

There’s a chocolate revolution going on. A new generation of pioneering artisan makers are crafting incredible chocolate bars directly from the cocoa bean. For these makers, less is more. Fewer additives, fewer ingredients, just a focus on the best single estate cocoa beans.

Cocoa Runners was set up for the love of chocolate. Their aim is to make the world’s best small and artisanal single-estate ‘bean-to-bar’ producers more accessible. ‘Bean-to-bar’ chocolate makers source premium beans directly from small farmers who value provenance and quality. They manufacture in small batches and maintain high standards, ensuring sublime flavour.

The Cocoa Runners co-founders, Spencer Hyman and Simon Palethorpe, have travelled the world from Brooklyn to Budapest and San Francisco to Saigon tasting chocolate and have tasted over 5,000 bars to date. Their success has seen them awarded the runner-up prize for the Observer Food Monthly’s Independent Retailer of The Year 2015 award and GQ have labelled them their “new favourite life-by-subscription service.”

Take part in an evening of chocolate tasting and discussion with Spencer and Simon, discovering some of the best artisan chocolate bars from around the world. Each event is based around a different theme, from comparing new and old world chocolates to comparing bars from France and the US that are crafted from the same beans.

The experience is held at Prufrock Café on bustling Leather Lane in Clerkenwell. The light, minimalist and buzzy open-plan coffeehouse is the flagship café of Prufrock Coffee and doubles as the London Barista Resource & Training Centre.
