“Afternoon tea reaches sublime new heights” The Telegraph

Why we love it

Set in a glorious nine-storey Grade-II listed building, oozing style and charm, this afternoon tea is unique in every way. Classic sandwiches take on a summertime swizzle, and tea with a twist is there to complement every bite. The real show-stopper is the Veuve Clicquot Rich teapot – a whole bottle of champagne, infused with a tea of your choice (rose, rosemary and fennel is guests’ choice). So, if you fancy a nibble and some bubbles with a difference, The Curtain is the place.

What's Included?

  • Enjoy a Champagne Afternoon Tea for two at The Curtain
  • Indulge in a selection of fresh sandwiches, pastries, cakes and homemade scones
  • Sip on a glass of champagne each
  • Choose from a range of bespoke teas, including The Curtain’s unique blend
  • Relax in the stylish and luxurious ambience of The Curtain

Description

Effortlessly edgy, The Curtain hotel slots perfectly into its Shoreditch surroundings, with exposed brick walls and custom artwork by Mick Rock. If the tones of a live gospel choir (who sing every Sunday) don't draw you in, the food definitely will.

Chef Marcus Samuelsson Chef Marcus Samuelsson, who was born in Ethiopia and raised in Sweden, takes his inspiration from America’s deep south, with influences from his respective homelands. Red Rooster serves up an eclectic orchestra of dishes including Obama short ribs (the former president is a fan) and the Bird Royale Feast (an entire fried chicken theatrically presented with a sparkler). To top it off, these stylish dishes are served to music to match – live music five nights a week and a Gospel choir at Sunday brunch.

As you can well imagine, Afternoon Tea, concocted by this master chef, is equally as intriguing. Think G&T cucumber sandwiches, and Red Rooster-inspired devilled eggs. These will be served alongside freshly-baked scones with jam and clotted cream and followed by a selection of spectacular cakes, prepared by the pastry team.

Collaborating with Hackney Herbal, there are an array of bespoke teas to choose from, including The Curtain blend: spearmint, echinacea, sage and liquorice, plus classic Earl Grey and English Breakfast teas. Your champagne tea includes a choice of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut NV, Veuve Clicquot Rosé Brut NV or (for a little extra), the Veuve Clicquot Rich teapot, a whole bottle of champagne, infused with a tea of your choice.
