  • Enjoy six premium Belgian beers served in 150ml glasses, with a four-course paired food menu and cheese board
  • Your tasting will be led by Durham Atkinson, Imbibe’s 'Pub Personality of the Year 2015’

Description

Belgian beers are known for their rich, complex flavours, and monastic Trappist breweries. Trappist monks hold to a tradition of brewing for quality, rather than quantity. Where a typical lager takes three days to brew, a Trappist beer can take two to three months, allowing for up to four rounds of fermentation to take place, instead of the more customary single fermentation; all in the name of a greater depth and complexity of flavour.

Trappist beers can only be called Trappist if they are brewed in one of the Trappist monasteries, meaning that these incredible brews are extremely rare and highly sought after around the world.

In this tasting led by Hops & Glory owner Durham Atkinson, formerly of London drinking hotspots Milk & Honey and Happiness Forgets (8th in the World’s Top 50 Bars 2015), you will sample six spectacular beers paired with four tasting plates of food from the Hops & Glory kitchen, as well as a delectable cheese board of British cheeses.

As a TRULY guest, you’ll also receive a brief behind-the-scenes tour of Hops & Glory’s basement microbrewery, where Durham experiments with different beer making styles. The equipment produces Hops & Glory own Pale Ale, as well as beers by the Solvay Society.

Reviews

  • If lads were in charged of creating an afternoon tea, this would be it

My dad and husband went and had a lot of fun. They said the gentleman who spoke with them about the beers was great, and that the food pairings were delicious. Unfortunately they'd under-estimated the portion sizes and eaten before they arrived so couldn't take full advantage
