Description

Opening in 2012, The Hops & Glory's microbrewery and pub boasts an impressive selection of over 100 brews and a broad range of styles, including wheat beers, pale ales, lagers, stouts, porters and Trappist beers from the UK, Europe, USA, and Australasia. The pub serves 15 varieties of beer on tap (including their own Hops & Glory Pale Ale), plus three rotating draughts. It's a beer lover's paradise.

The Hops & Glory houses a micro-brewery in the cellar. The home-style brewery has been an experimentation ground for proprietor Durham Atkinson since in-house brewing began in 2013. Winner of Imbibe’s ‘Pub Personality of the Year 2015’, Durham Atkinson is a cocktail connoisseur turned hop enthusiast. Durham’s CV is as impressive as his knowledge of the beer industry, having worked at popular haunts Milk & Honey, Happiness Forgets, and Hawksmoor among others.

Taste six premium beers from around the world, served alongside three shared dishes from Hops & Glory's menu of excellent gastropub food. The experience will be led by one of The Hops & Glory’s beer experts, allowing time for an introduction to beer tasting, a short history of each beer tasted, and notes on how to pair beer with food.

As a TRULY guest, you'll go on a behind-the-scenes tour of the in-house microbrewery, where Hops & Glory brew their own Pale Ale, as well as beers by the Solvay Society.

Reviews

  • Enjoyable and interesting experience overall.

Enjoyed the experience and was pleased with beer tasting, however food was very good for me and disappointing for my partner as we asked for a meal with no cream or onion and received fish on a bed on a bed of greens completed smothered in cream. We asked for a replacement dish and waited about 40 minutes then received a piece of goats cheese and some salad. The waitress said she didn't want to upset the chef anymore so we had to make do with it. Otherwise a lovely experience.

    Brillant

Brilliant. Great environment. Great staff. Great food. Great beer. Great

  • Excellent choice of beers and more

Good food and excellent choice of beers. Staff were also very attentive and venue had a lovely feel.

    Where's the inhouse beer?

Micro brewery was just containers in the basement is wasn't working and there was no beer brewed there to drink was just commercial bottles.food was limited so it didn't feel it was value for the high asking price .

  • Fabulous experience... bad ending

This was bought as a gift for me and my partners anniversary so the 'discretionary' 12.5% service charge was a shock and a disappointment considering we didn't even know how much the experience cost us. We did not pay it and we felt like it caused some upset. The place was fabulous just a shame about this sill rule

    Great gift or treat

Food was amazing, presentation and beer tasting very informative and overall a fun evening out!

  • Interesting way to discover new beers

The guide was passionate and knowledgeable, we learnt a lot! The food was delicious and paired perfectly with the various beers. A great experience.

Excellent beer teaching, tasting and food

Very personable experience, excellent choice of beers, lovely food, interesting talk on beer and view of microbrewery. Will definitely be going back to this pub

  • Fun & informative evening

Was a fun evening and very informative and well research presentation. Would of like to have been able to have the locally brewed beer included in the tasting experience having been showed the process and the cellar.

    A great evening in London

People who appreciate good beer (and food) in a pleasant and welcoming environment. What made it extraordinary was the enthusiatic owner explaining the growth in the craft beer making industry.

  • Learned about history and brewing

good process which enabled me to recognise the differences between the beers. good explanation of the history and elements of beer brewing.

Excellent beers and first class food

Excellent presentation and choice of beers, accompanied by first class food.

  • Great ambience

Great ambience at the site. The owner, Durham, was clearly enthusiastic about his enterprise and very knowledgable about beer brewing.

    Really enjoyed it

Really enjoyed it. Unfortunately there was a function on in the pub which made it difficult to hear Durham. He did apologise, and it was fine.

  • Great beers, great brewery, great barman

The guy was very knowledgeable, the beers were great and seeing the brewery was also good to see. Really enjoyed it.

    Great communication

On our arrival we were expected and preparations had been made prior to our arrival

  • Excellent experience

Excellent experience - the beers were great, but was surprised by the quality of the food and how informative the guide was.

    Tour was very informative

Our host was very nice, the pub was lovely and food was good but expected to have ales selected that suited our individual tastes and perhaps more to beers to try considering it was £75. Tour was very informative though.

  • Great quality of service

Darren the owner of the pub was great, everything was made to make us feel special we really enjoyed it! Everybody was lovely and friendly, the beers and food (that were more like two starters rather than just snacks) were amazing I would definitely recommend anybody to try the experience or simply go to the pub, great quality of service. Concerning Truly they have a great customer service, thanks for your help.

Great experience albeit a bit rushed

It was a great experience just felt a little bit rushed.

  • Really good beer tasting

The beer tasting was really good, and the host Durham was very good but the bar had just had a refit and wasn't really ready for paying customers. That said it was a great idea and I'm sure in the future when it's fully open it will be a very good experience.

    Fantastic experience, I'd recommend!

The experience was good because of the attention given to us by the 'beer expert', he had an easy going manner and his knowledge was excellent. In addition the 'nibbles' which were served along with the beer were more like starters, each dish was more delicious than the last and the chef came over to talk us through each one. I am not giving this an excellent rating as the pub hadnt fully opened and lacked atmosphere and also because of this the brewery wasn't functioning, it would have been great to see the beer brewing in process (On a cheeky note a botte of beer to take home would have been nice). All in all it was a fantastic experience and I have already recommended it!
