Description

Set amongst the bustling St. Lawrence Market district, is the dimly-lit 1920’s style bar East Thirty-Six. Regal purples and dark furnishings give the space a stately, Gatsby-esque grandeur that extends to the marble bar and white subway-tile walls. The old-Hollywood look is matched by an impressive list of intriguing and innovative cocktails that pay homage to the charm of the Prohibition era.

Co-owner Julien Salomone, a former competitive mixologist, has over a decade’s worth of experience behind the bar. His homemade syrups, extracts and tinctures add a twist to classic cocktails; coriander syrup packs a fresh punch to the Chartreuse inspired French Connection and the smoke tincture in the re-imagined Smoked Boulevardier adds a deep undertone to the lightly toasted oak flavours of 14 year old Maker's Mark.

Upon your arrival, a member of East Thirty-Six's expert bar staff will be on hand to provide a fun, informal guide to the many bottles of infusions that line the back bar. Smell and taste your way through an introduction on their usage, flavours and unique qualities. From the ingredients on hand, your bartender will whip up two completely bespoke cocktails, tailored to your tastes.

To complement the lip-smacking cocktails, enjoy Chef Brent Maxwell’s beautifully prepared French fare. Chef Maxwell’s culinary career spans time spent at three Michelin starred French bistro Maison Pic, and Auberge du Pommier, Canoe and Luma. Savour delicious cauliflower florets topped with capers, preserved lemon, brown butter, and a sprinkling of hazelnuts and parsley; plus sweet and creamy Italian Burrata, and peppery, aromatic Humboldt Squid.
