The Sanderson Hotel in London is famous for its iconic Mad Hatters Tea Party, but if you’re not a cake lover, the hotel itself boasts several impressive and sometimes outlandish bars. The sort of bars that every Londoner, or in fact tourist, needs to visit at least once.
As you might have seen if you follow me on Snapchat (@lefashionfetish), I spent my Wednesday evening in the Sanderson’s Purple Bar – a sort of eccentric Aladdin’s cave that truly made me feel like my genie’s wishes had been answered. The room was draped in bouncy purple velvet and the walls were covered in incredible ornate mirrors. But most importantly, the cocktails were probably some of the best I’ve had in London to-date, and being the cocktail addict I am, that is a strong statement to make!
Before we even realised it we had two of the most breathtaking drinks I’ve ever seen set in front of us – a ‘Fizz Kaffir’ and a Mustique. And as if we weren’t already on cloud nine, the canapés which were from the new menu the Sanderson has recently launched absolutely blew our minds. We had BBQ king prawns, arancini balls, polenta truffle chips and kale chips, each and every single one tasted amazing, so much so they the prawns secured themselves as our main point of conversation for the duration of our journey home. For our second round of cocktails the waitress put the power in our hands and offered us up any tipple of our choosing, on or off the menu (a true sign of a great mixologist!). It wasn’t on the menu, but I ordered one of my favourites and a world-class classic – a Pina Colada and my friend ordered a sweet and light gin and elderflower blend. Hump day score – 10/10.
The Truly team and the service we received at Sanderson was faultless and the food and drinks were divine. I will definitely be returning!
