Between Worlds

April 11, 2015 – April 25, 2015

This powerful opera is the work of debut composer Tansy Davies and it will arrive at the Barbican Theatre in April, an English National Opera production. It is based on the controversial subject of the 9/11 Twin Towers terrorist attack in the USA. It tells the story of several people who find themselves trapped at the top of one of the towers. These strangers are caught in a desperate situation together in this thought provoking and moving story.

Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

March 30, 2015- April 12, 2015

The English National Opera presents this entertaining and gruesome story, featuring the talents of Bryn Terfel and actress Emma Thompson (an Academy Award winner). The show at the London Coliseum features some of Stephen Sondheim’s most memorable musical compositions performed by an all-star cast.

April 2-11, 2015

The Royal Opera House presents this charming tale at the Linbury Studio Theatre. The production is perfect as a first opera experience for children, as it features engaging visual storytelling and puppetry that all ages will love. Swanhunter is based on a Finnish folk story about Lemminkäinen, who travels to the north in search of his bride. On his quest he must complete a series of impossible tasks, including riding the Devil’s Horse, hunting the Devil’s elk and shooting a swan.

Il Turco in Italia

April 11-27, 2015

Il Turco in Italia” (The Turk in Italy) is an opera by Rossini that was first performed in Milan in 1814 and will be featured on the main stage of the Royal Opera House this spring. A light and comedic opera, it entertains with glamorous sets and costumes and witty humour. It is a tangled romp of overlapping story lines and romantic drama – telling the story of a playwright who is trying to finish a farce but is paralysed by writer’s block. He travels to a beachside Gypsy encampment just outside of Naples to get the creative juices flowing and while he is there, he discovers all the inspiration he needs in the zany characters he meets there.
