I like to spend my study-free weekends exploring London, eating good food and catching up with friends. So on Saturday the lovely Roxy and I headed to M Restaurant in Victoria to try out their two-course brunch (with bottomless Bellinis!). And before you ask, we scheduled brunch for 12pm to make it slightly more acceptable to be drinking Bellinis in the middle of the day. I organised the brunch with Truly, a company that lets you buy “experiences” as gifts (or just for yourself if you deserve a treat!).
I was looking for a dining experience with a drinks pairing and they have quite a few to choose from, but the Bottomless Bellini Brunch stood out because I wanted something fairly relaxed for a Saturday afternoon, and also I liked the sound of M’s award-winning food! Truly made it really easy to organise the occasion. If you wanted any special requests or optional extras they would also make the venue aware of these for you. I can imagine the Concierge would be even more useful if you were heading to an experience that was a bit more complex than a brunch: e.g. this trip to Amsterdam where you stay in a 5-star hotel and get a private tour of the Van Gogh Museum with a professional art historian – that sounds incredible!
The restaurant has a really modern and minimalist feel to it and we were made to feel at home straight away with the very attentive staff. We started with their rhubarb Bellinis which was something a little different to the traditional peach cocktail, but delicious in its own right.
For our first course, we both had the Avocado on Sourdough Toast with Crème Fraîche and Feta. This was some of the best avocado toast I’ve ever had and I come from Australia where this is basically a breakfast institution, so I feel like I have some authority on the matter.
For my second course, I had the Firecracker Scrambled Eggs with Chorizo and Coriander. The eggs were so yummy and creamy and the chorizo and peppery sauce added just the right amount of heat. I’m also a massive coriander fan – controversial, I know.
For her second course, Roxy had the Baked Eggs with Smoked Beans, Beef Short Ribs and Hazelnut Dukkah, which she said tasted amazing. It sure looked delicious! Also on offer were a couple of healthier or lighter options like Granola with Rhubarb or Toast with Seasonal Jam. On the other hand, you could go even more indulgent with their Buttermilk Fried Chicken Waffles.
Of course, if you’re going to have a two-course brunch you should really go for some exercise afterwards… Roxy and I ended the afternoon with a little exploratory walk around Belgravia, which is a stone’s throw away from M Victoria.
Thanks to the Truly team for organising such a wonderful day for us!
