London is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world, with over 300 hundred languages spoken. This great diversity is reflected in the multitude of amazing restaurants. We’ve been on the look out for some hot new London restaurants!
Central London
1- Francesco Mazzei, former chef of L’Anima has opened a new plush restaurant called Sartoria. This place does not lack in all possible comforts, including thick rugs and stuffed sofas. The food is sublime. Try Mazzei’s delicious lasagna with nduja from South Italy, and his famous fregola made with toasted semolina in a ripe tomato-based fish stew. Finish off, a big portion of Tiramisu!
2- Piquet offers perfectly executed French dishes using the best in British produce. Delight in Chef Allan Pickett’s five-course Market Menu; showcasing seasonal ingredients, and ensuring a fresh and unique dining experience. West London
After closing for a while, Eggbreak in Noting Hill re-opened this month. The simple yet elegant white interior and wooden tables perfectly reflect the egg-devoted cuisine. The menu includes the classic Eggs Florentine and Benedict, the moreish Clarence Court eggs (with fried cabbage, anchovies, aïoli and Parmesan), the sublime Beaten Eggs with chorizo, scamorza and spring onions…and much more! A plus: lots of vegetarian options!
East London
Jidori, a new Japanese Yakitori (literally ‘fry chicken’) restaurant, has recently opened in Dalston. If you are a chicken lover, you cannot miss the delicious koji chicken thighs, the tasty tsukune skewers to dip in raw egg and the crisp shiso and lemon wings. Authentic Japanese chicken recipes which happen to be just perfect to have with a pint – Japanese or British, depending on your taste!
North London
Opened in early 2016 in Upper Street in Islington, Galley has already become a must-dine at in London. Specialising in fish with flavours from North Africa, Asia and South America, Galley serves beautiful tempura oysters and delicious tuna tartare with mango and avocado. Among the specialities is certainly the pan-fried sea bass fillets served with gnocchi, vegetables and truffle.
South London
Damien Hirst, after the success of his Pharmacy in late nineties, opens Pharmacy 2 in collaboration with famous chef Mark Hix. Its location in Newport Street Gallery makes the style of the restaurant pretty unique as it gives visitors the opportunity to mix the pleasures of food with those of art by admiring Hirst’s iconic series, among which ‘Medicine Cabinets’ and the Butterfly Kaleidoscope paintings. Freshness of ingredients is at the heart of the British and European dishes served, which include a lot of vegetables. Ps: the Launceston lamb pie is just delicious!
