This month, there’s going to be a rather special new restaurant in town. Eelbrook, a one of its kind, will be setting up shop on Eel Brook Common in Fulham. Experienced chef Brett Barnes has created an eclectic menu, with tastes deriving from Britain, Europe, and North America.

The Food

At Eelbrook, head chef Brett Barnes will be combining his learned influences to put together dishes mostly comprising of British ingredients. The menu is touted to contain plates such as ‘Salt cod brandade with seaweed bread’ and ‘Ricotta and nettle gnudi with peas, broad beans and marjoram.’ Sharing dishes, with the likes of grilled steak and baked brill, will provide a compliment to the mains.

The Chef

Brett Barnes has appeared in numerous kitchens, including the 19th best restaurant in the world, Fäviken. Other restaurants Barnes has cooked at are recognised as having some of the best food around Soho: Ducksoup, Arbutus, and HIX. Sous chef Aidan Brooks was an apprentice under Carles Abellan, mastermind behind the experience at Barcelona’s Michein starred Comerç 24.

The Ambience

The former café on New King’s Road at Eelbrook Common is under refurbishment to make way for the interior designers responsible for Wagamama, Hakkasan and Yauatcha. The new space will feature open-air dining and a heated terrace, while the interior has been repaneled with natural blonde wood to blend in with the trees outside. The whole establishment will seat 72 guests.

The Eelbrook opens its doors on July 28. A ‘soft launch’ takes place from 23rd to 24th July, when there will be 50% off food.
