World Whisky Day

Whisky Day

For those of you who didn’t already know, tonight is eve of World Whisky Day, surely a most hallowed and auspicious day in the calendar for all dedicated whiskey aficionados. Around the world, celebrations are being prepared, events are being planned, drams are being filled and the festivities are flowing smoother than the finest single malt.

May 17th was chosen by the founder of World Whisky Day as it falls between the Spirit of Speyside Festival (at the beginning of May) and the Islay Whisky Festival (at the end of May). Sadly the first whisky festival has passed, however there is still time to consider an impromptu trip to Islay, the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, where you can enjoy a week-long celebration of music and all the whiskey that Islay has to offer.

However, if you haven’t the time for an unplanned break off the coast of Scotland, you can still mark this illustrious day in style. If you have the pleasure of living in Australia, as some of our community do, then we would like to remind you that as of tomorrow Aldi will be offering bottles of Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V as an online-only special for $399 AUD, which is a third cheaper than the nearest competitor, and about half the recommended retail price, so definitely a deal worth exploiting.

Events are taking place all over the globe. If you can’t find an event happening near you; remember that you can always make a stop-off at London’s premier whisky bar; joining Cesar at The Capital for a whisky tasting experience to remember.
