MORE ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Located in the heart of South America, The Pantanal is the world’s largest wetland. Twenty times the size of the famed Everglades in Florida, wildlife is easy to spot in the area's open marshes. Experience the excitement of witnessing graceful jaguars, swimming anacondas, colourful macaws and gentle giant otters in their natural environment.

The Pantanal is a biogeographic mixing bowl, including the Amazon Forest, the Caatinga, the Brazilian Savannah, the Atlantic Rainforest and the Paraguayan Chaco. The natural reserve is home to 698 species of bird, 260 of fish, 80 of mammals and 50 of reptiles.

You’ll be guided by local peõa (cowboy) Julinho Andre Monteiro, a native Brazilian with over 20 years’ experience exploring the region and tracking the elusive wild jaguar. As your private tour guide, Julinho will take you to places other tourists don't see, offering his guidance and honed tracking techniques. He will provide insightful knowledge on the natural flora and fauna, bringing you closer to the environment, the wildlife and the indigenous people.

The jaguar is the largest cat on the continent. To spot the jaguar, you’ll explore the river banks of Porto Jofre, set in the southern region of the Pantanal (Mato Grosso State). Tracking the jaguar is an important part of the big cats survival. Not just a thrilling experience, tracking is the most natural and friendliest way of protecting the jaguars way of life. By helping the local conservationists 'keep track' on their movements, migrations and habits, you can ensure the jaguar continues to thrive.

From your natural eco-lodge, you’ll trek through foilage and travel by motor boat along the wetlands where Julinho’s experience is vital. His awareness of the natural surroundings makes a sightings more possible; recognising subtle signs and understanding the jaguar’s migrations.

This experience is a truly authentic insight into the Pantanal way of life and a once in a lifetime opportunity to discover the region's biodiversity. A customisable getaway, Julinho can cater for most needs and interests. It is also possible to organise nights camping in the wild, for the ultimate get-in-touch with nature experience. Please contact the TRULY concierge team for further details.
